Race Promotion Night @ ZOLDER, 07 NOVEMBER 2015

Yesterday we had the last race event of the year, and this one involved a special occasion. Tom has reached 20 years volunteering as a marshal and is retiring. After much deliberation he has decided to spend more time on his other passion... Running, and preferably marathons. And as any other year we also had a small VDHB campfire during the last race. We wish to thank Tom for his great and continuous effort, enjoy your family and all your hobbies in the future.
Be welcome at our post for a visit.
Greetings of all your VDHB friends.

Blancpain Sprint Series @ ZOLDER, 05-07 JUNE 2015

We were assigned to posts 4B and 5 (new postnumbers, read about it here).
This weekend the Blancpain GT Series was in Zolder to have 2 sprint races of 1 hour. Local driver Laurens Vanthoor and the Belgian WRT Audi team were the favorites of the weekend. He did win, very easy, the qualifying race on Saturday and the race on Sunday. The other home driver, Enzo Ide, was hit at the start of the race on Sunday and was penalised for jump starting later. He had no chance to achieve a good result in the race.
The curbstones at the chicane have been tortured. We had te remove pieces of curbstone and car parts after each practice, qaulifying and race.
The schedule was completed with the Deutsche Tourenwagen Challenge and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux. Although the time passed by, these races were little spectacular. Once and a while a bump was given or another car was passed. But on our post there have been no incidents.
On to the Syntix Superprix on 19-20-21 June with a lot of entrants and a busy schedule. We will have 5 races on Saturday already!

Terlaemen Cup Zolder @ ZOLDER, 15 MARCH 2015

Finally ! After a very long winter we get some action on track. Even though we have seen each other during the annual marshals party, we were happy to see everyone healthy and active again.
We had a great atmosphere on our post for the first raceday of the year. We had been assigned to post 8, at the first chicane. Usually a nice post with a lot of action.
We didn't see much action though. The huge starting field of the BGDC, with 65 cars, was very disciplined. A few minor touches, some driver errors, but at the end of the day no work for us.
Another race planned on this day was the first round of the BGDC. Unfortunately with only 5 cars at the starting line for a 2.5 hour race. I don't want to write more words about this race than there where competitors. So I'm going to stop this text about our cold weekend, but with a warm and amusing group and a great championship that we've missed for years, the BGDC.
